Defense

Defense is certainly one of the most important part of  table soccer though it is not the most desirable part of the game. Defense in games like table soccer involves not only stopping and catching the ball which your opponent just tried to get into your pocket. Furthermore the defense also means to get control of the ball again to get switched to offense without loosing the ball again.

The main target of defensive play is preventing the opponent to place successful shots into your goal. Even beginners shouldn’t underestimate the role and importance of a good defensive play.

The following pages under section “defense” describe a few defensive strategies which helps you to setup a good defense in the way you play foosball.

Here are a few simple rules and reccomendations for a good defense in foosball:

  • Even it is difficult for beginners you should try to stop the ball when you block the shot of your opponent.
  • Try to avoid not simply bouncing the ball your opponent just shot. If the ball reflects across the area of the table it can easily be caught by your opponent again.
  • If you have stopped the ball take your time and place a controlled shot instead of simply shooting fast and inprecise.
