However, just before the big event in South Africa opened the doors for all the fans from all over the world there has been another important Worldcup taking place in the heart of Germany.

I’m talking about the Table Soccer Worldcup in Gäufelden which is a small town in the Baden-Wuerttemberg. There have been more than 800 international players making their way to Gäufelden. There have been also players from our hometown Jena driving the 400 km from Jena to Gäufelden hoping for high scores in the different categories.

Besides the professional section of the P4P WM the tournament had also a “beginners category”. Beginners in a world cup doesn’t mean rookies who havn’t played much before. It was rather meant for very good players who didn’t dare yet to run their favourite table soccer sport in a professional way yet.

Florian, my son, and Felix decided to drive down to Gäufelden and to play as double team. And it was worth doing it since both won a great 3rd place!

Congratulation to both of them. The represented the table soccer city Jena in a very successful way. Looking forward to see more of these games and winners in 2011!

Players from places all over Germany found their way to Jena. Announced as Challenger B tournament and therefore counting for the score list of the DTFB these players could gather DTFB score points besides the money waiting for the winners. The games were played on brandnew Leo Tornament Tables and after two days of exciting table soccer games and having a lot of fun the winners were found.

Florian and Felix were the best players from Jena, the hometown of the SOCCA OPEN.

In the upcoming weekend, on February, 20 and 21, the 4th Socca Open Jena takes place. Like every time it will start around noon time in the Socca Bar Jena located in Grietgasse 10.

DYP and Open Single will take place on Staturday and the open double will follow on Sundayd

Players from almost all foosball Nations meet in Nantes searching for their winners in different disciplins. The games and teams are displayed at the Website of the International Table Soccer Federation Worldcup.

The German players seem to be in a good shape and condition since they already won a few of the finals played till today. Congratulation!

The Socca Bar in Jena is considered to belong to the best Table Soccer bars in Germany. It is located downtown Jena, the famous city for optics and soccer, both related to the name Carl Zeiss.

Just in case you want to spent a visit for a quick drink or a game – have a look to their website.

It’s been the third time that this well-known table soccer tournament took place in Jena. Professional and hobby players from all parts of Germany came to Jena to play hoping to score and reach the final game.
It took about 14 hours to get the final started since 28 teams were fighting to reach it. The final game started around 1 AM after midnight.

The win went to the team of Christian Heber and Thomas Otte from Bamberg and Kulmbach. Our best team from Jena got place number 4 – Florian and Felix.

It was a lot of fun and we are looking forward to see everybody again in Jena in 2010.

Regards from Jena in Germany

Let’s start with some basic facts and we will add more in the near future.

Jena is a city with approximately 100.000 inhabitants located in the state of  Thuringia in the center of Germany. Jena is well known far beyond the German borders due to its intellectual history und important personalities such as Friedrich Schiller, Carl Zeiss, Otto Schott and many others.

The first record mentioning Jena as a town goes back to 1236 which makes the city becoming 800 years in less than 30 years from now. Jena got an interesting history and certainly an even more exciting future.

Without mentioning Jena got famous soccer teams and one of the teams known worldwide is FC Carl Zeiss Jena.

However, we are sure that table soccer will play an important role in this city as well. There are already playing quite a few guys either in a club, team or simply as an hobby. And there will be more and they will become better and better.

Table soccer will make Jena as famous as Zeiss and Schott used to.

We tried to see as much as possible within the few days we had and it won’t be the last time coming here. And next time Florian is keen to play table soccer in one of these famous places over here.
